Very good result from Cam and not the worst draw in R2 either.

In the section of the draw where Kyle was originally placed, Tsonga has just retired against Fritz.

Monfils really didn't do Kyle any favours.

Kyle would have still had to have won is R1 match which was still no guarantee so Tsonga retiring makes absolutely no difference. I hope Tsonga is ok and it's not serious.

Happy to see Cam come through.

Agreed, but Kyle has a 3-0 head to head against Lajovic and I would have expected him to win that one comfortably.

Fritz would have been Kyle's R2 opponent in his revised draw if he had beaten Schwartzman. So Tsonga retiring could have been a break for him, though (1) Djokovic awaits in R3. But it is Schwartzman that plays Fritz.

(16) Goffin would have been Kyle's R2 opponent if he had never been moved and beaten Lajovic. Winner to play (4) Thiem or Klizan in R3.

Cam wins the tie break and is 1-0 on up on serve in the 2nd. 96th ranked Sonego is next if he can win this one. Great chance and fortunate draw to have a chance of his first Masters QF. Dont want to tempt fate.

L32:  Cameron Norrie WR 56 defeated Marton Fucsovics (HUN) WR 37 by 7-6(3) 6-3  biggrin

I thought he was going to blow it when he went behind so early in the first set!

*****

L16:  Cameron Norrie WR 56 vs (Q) Lorenzo Sonego (ITA) WR 96 (CH = 86 last October)

The Italian qualifier saw off Khachanov (8) by 7-6(4) 6-4 yesterday...
