Almost a carbon copy of that winner yesterday in the 4-1* game. A very efficient set in just 24 mins, 6-1. Playing (and serving well), Zhang does look pretty limited though.
Hopefully both can keep up their respective current levels in the 2nd set.
Thoroughly enjoyed that, Swan solid throughout, and some really nice forehand winners. Under an hour which was very convenient too. I must say that that has got to be one of the worst performances I have seen from Zhang (in general, not specifically from Zhang), I'm not sure if it was a one off, but she was pretty abysmal. Katie did force her into some errors, but a lot were her own doing. She only won 23 points and even took a near 10 minute bathroom break and was still off court within the hour., which shows you how dominant Katie was.
As I mentioned on the previous page, it's someone ranked 492 next for Katie, so fingers crossed it's as straightforward as this and she can make another semi final, and edge her way back towards the top 200. Nice to see her string some wins together - that's 5-1 over the past 10 days which has got to be one of her best runs for a while, and good to see.

Didn't see the match so thanks for the reports, foobarbaz and AV - enjoy reading them.
Great to hear that she's carry on playing solid, aggressive tennis - I thought last week was the best I've seen her play in ages.
And, as you say, stringing the matches together like this as well is really good.
No real surprise as Em and Junri lose a tight but good quality match to last week's champions 7-5 6-4 The last two events on this swing are much stronger, so her best chance to put on some big points this summer may however have gone.
Great from Katie

Looks like she should be on at a more convenient time tonight. All 4 women's QFs are on Court 2 (same court as Katie's last 2 matches, so I assume there'll be a stream) and play starts at 4pm. Katie is 4th on, so it'll depend on how the matches before her go, but should be a lot better than after 12.30am like the last two matches.
6 of the 8 seeds have made the QF, and 4 of those also made the QF in Ashland last week.
Here is a full match replay if anyone wants to watch. It's only on for 1 hr 5 mins, and includes a 7 min warm up and 7 min set 1 break, so just about 50 mins worth of tennis, which should fit in nicely to a lunch break

Also helps it's the weekend if you work a regular M-F 9-5
Looks like Katie may well be on not far off midnight tonight as well. Both matches so far have gone into a decider, with the second match in the very early stages of the final set. 2nd seed Ann Li in through, 4th and 5th seeds currently in battle now.
The 4th seed Han beat last week's Ashland finalist Hives, so if Katie can get past her qualifier tonight, then it'll more more South Korean opposition in the semi final.
3rd match yet to start.
