Sam takes the first set 6-4 - was 5-1 but three DF's in one game gave her opponent one break back
Katy takes the first set 6-2

Gabi's losing again.. that also doesn't elicit any surprise these days very sadly, even if Myrtille Georges is the 3rd seed, would still expect a bit more from Gabi than we're getting.

Well done to Lissey, that's a fine win.
I expected Katy D to win - she played well last week and was unlucky with the draw. But that's a very good score.
And Sam winning in two is good too..
Doubt anyone expected Ola to have much of a chance...
Had hoped Gabi might do better. Myrtille is not on great form of late....

Just shows the difference in levels at the moment between Katy and Gabi. Katy, just recently back, beats someone 2 and 1 who beat Gabi in straights last week.

Shame about Gabi, but if Emma can win, then 5 through (taking into account the upcoming all GB match) would be a good return, and then anything from Emilie (and Suzy) would be a bonus, although if not, then at least Garland would be through.

Just saw that Amarni is 9/1 to beat Jodie (1/33). I'd expect Jodie to win, but on the basis of the past few weeks, I certainly wouldn't see her as a 1/33 shot. Friedsam is a less of a favourite against Suzy. Emma is a 1/7 favourite FWIW.

Emilie an early break down to Jo G.

Yep, closer than the 9/1 going by that first set, but Jodie reels off 6 points in a row from 1-4 in the tie breaked to take the first set. 7-6(4).

Suzy 0-4.

Emilie lost 1-6 4-6.

And why was Amarni the favourite Ace? Jodie has now won 7-6(4) 6-3 in 83 mins

Armani wasn't the favourite, and shouldn't have been, but I was stating that IMO at 1/33, Jodie was far too big a favourite given her form since coming back from injury. I thought it should have been nearer 1/7 vs 4/1, with Jodie still a favourite, instead of 1/33 vs 9/1. Those 9/1 odds would suggest Amarni was effectively making up the numbers and she'd be lucky to get 3 or 4 games on the board.

Emma 6-3. Hopefully she sees this out and it will be a very good day at the GB office.

Suzy lost 0-6 4-6. Looks like gave the second set a good go, but was obviously in deep here.

Emma won comfortably. So hopefully her retirement last week was nothing serious.

So that's a decent enough day.

Sam v Lissey gives a guaranteed QF

Katy D should have a good chance.

Jodie might have her work cut out against Indy but has the ability.

And, as before, I don't think Myrtille has been playing that well recently so Emma (if OK) has a good chance too.

Emma's 5 ranking points ( so far ) take her to 73 points from just 8 counters on Monday week and very likely into the top 500 for the first time, probably around 490. But might as well keep on going ...
