What would be the projected sum of points needed for entry to qualifying for Australian Open?
That's Indy's kind of question since I think he keeps those kind of tables.. but in terms of my estimates here goes. Last year's initial qualifying acceptance cut off was 234, but eventually 251 was the last ranked player in. But let's take 234 as the benchmark now. Next week 234 (Sara Errani!!) will have 250 points. Currently Sam has 214, so just 36 off. She already has 11 from this week; if she would reach the SF here she would gain another 25 points and be just 11 more off.
And in terms of points coming off still this year... Sam has absolutely none! All her counters will last until next year. So really she just needs a minimum of those 36 points still, which means 1-2 more good tournaments, and I'd say her qualification is guaranteed.

You're up on me on the last Aus Open Q cut-off and nothing really to add re Sam's points situation.
Indeed she only has one point due off ( probably not even a counter by then ) before the French Open Q cut-off and, for whatever it matters, only 25 points before Wimbledon Q cut-off.
It really has been an excellent 4 or 5 months for Sam. Hopefully she plays enough events to secure what she needs for the AO.
Yes, married life seems to suit her. Or, which was more my point back then, she may now have access to better training programmes, travelling packages etc., because obviously there's two of them now and economies of scale.

Any which way, it's all good.
Given Sam married an Indian it would perhaps be logical to suggest she will target the 3 or 4 x 25k tournaments there in November and December. Should easily get the net 30 points she needs from there. Although winning the title here would put her top 250 anyway.

Yes. I've been watching Divij's itinerary a bit - I think they were both in China together, he played the challengers there, which makes sense - it's a long way and good to be together if you can.
There's the Men Pune challenger also in India in Nov, so, yes, would make sense maybe for them both to go there for that.
