Salma Djoubri is still 16, bring born 20 Dec. 2002.
She has focused almost 100% on adult tennis, hasn't played a junior match in 18 months, and that was just one match that year, at RG. Same for the year before, just RG once. The only time she played juniors seriously was when she was 13. So her junior ranking is pretty much irrelevant.
As such, she's a bit like Eden Silva was - someone who seems to have been around for ever on the lowly 15ks, picking up a win here and there, and tons of losses - but you forget how young they are and suddenly (not surprisingly) the wins become to come together..... she won a 15k a few weeks ago.
However, she's very much a clay court player, from what I know. Naomi on a hard court should win easily.
Mylene Halemai is a far more mainstream, FFT reputed junior. (She was given a WC into RG doubles MD this year). Born in 2001, in Australia, she was French National champion in the 14U. But, to be honest, she hasn't quite lived up to the hype since then. (indeed, she lost to Salma in the National championships in 2017). A lot of people say the problems are her head, and that's definitely what she's working on.
If Eden is on song, and Mylene is at her normal level, Eden should beat her quite easily. But Eden goes AWOL sometimes and Mylene can put some lovely tennis together when she wants.
No problem with the DFs from Naomi in general - she SHOULD serve far more DFs than most people, because her serve is her weapon (one of her only weapons) so she's right to go for it. Far better than getting into a groundstroke rally with Salma....
Harriet has been making posts on Instagram saying off season, so I doubt we will see her again this year.
Yeah, that's her done for the year. Bit of a shame the way it ended as it's only the 18 points from Tashkent that she's collected since the US Open, and she drops 50 from Oslo in a week or two, but she's had her fair share of injuries this year.
She'll probably end the season in and around 140-145 (depending on how others around her perform as there are still a lot of 125k and big ITF events to come), so not much better than last years 153, but progress in qualifying for 2 slams and those wins at Wimbledon, and hopefully she'll find a new coach, work on a few things, and hit the ground running in 2020 (like she did last year).

Yes, it's been a disappointing year for Harriet, with Wimbledon about the only positive mark for her. Injuries have really blighted her ability to push on from last year, and the fact that she's ending the season injured isn't a good omen. However hope she has enough time now to recover fully by the new year. At least she is only marking time this year, unlike Katie B's utterly disastrous year.
