These American 25Ks of the last 3 weeks must be close to getting Katie over the line for Aus Open qualifying.
She is now guaranteed a minimum 243 points at cut-off date, currently equivalent to WR 247.
Confusing the Katies , Indiana? Hopefully both Katie B and Katy D will be back playing tennis soon.
Duh !
I actually remember thinking at the time that some folk have asked us to add in such letters from time to time to help browsrs. So while actually well aware who it was, this was me err helping not.
And those "minimum 243 points" were wrong. Was 234 after her R1 win. And ended up as 247 points after her SF exit.

Grim. The Mexican was a reasonable pre match betting favourite despite being ranked over 100 places lower, probably an indication of where Jodie is since her return, so no surprise in that respect, but not one of the opponents 12 winning games went to deuce, and it was over in exactly an hour.
Probably wouldn't be the worst idea in the world to end her season now and work on a few things in the gym and court because 5 points here and there aren't really going to do too much, and losing 1 and 2 here, getting bageled last week, 2 and 2 to Sanchez etc. can't be doing much good for her confidence, and her mindset can be questionable even when she's doing well.

I think that there's a lot of sense in what you say here Ace. The injury seems to have completely derailed her season. Finish now and build for next year would still see a decent return on her year and a good climb up the rankings. More confidence sapping defeats though could push her confidence down a notch or two.
Such a pity for Jodie given how she was going in the first half of the year and being still race #191 on 1st July a few weeks after she began her injury outage.
Assuming she is now fit and well and given she still isn't so far off Australian Open qualifying it is really no surprise that she keeps playing, no doubt hoping to recapture that previous form that if found could yet get her back into the top 250 before year end.
Not happening at the moment but I quite understand her continuing to seek out that previous form. It's there somewhere ...
And the singles round up. Jodie clearly still some way off where she was when she got injured in June.
Trying to see if anything has happened to Kayla Day. She is only 20 but 250 places off her CH, but no, she seems to have been playing for most of the part year, so doesn't seem anything major. Niggles we know much about.
