And, yet, seemingly we're still going to have it every year.....
Changed the wrong thing.
Absolutely
Absolutely squared.
Expanding on my initial reaction, I certainly want many more of the best players playing, but not by this awful move. And if it doesn't particularly change that aspect ( and I'm far from convinced it will, there surely being more to many non appearances than it bring best of 5 tennis ) then we will have the worst of all worlds. Making more of it as a biannual event has always seemed to me a good suggestion.
Be interested to know what sort of consultation process there was and what the general tennis reaction will be. I can't imagine much fan support.
Edit : re that last paragraph it would have helped if I had read the tweet information above. So in theory not a fait accompli, further discussion with stakeholders, formal vote etc. How much all that means who knows ...
Edit edit : I note it does say furher discussion on the "implementation" of three set tennis, two or three days etc, so on the face of it not on the principle

Regarding the further discussion - "The proposed changes, which would be enacted in 2018, must be approved by a two-thirds majority of the I.T.F.s full membership at its annual general meeting in early August in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam."
Bedene changed nationality but it was just, just, too late, according to the ITF, to be eligible to play for the UK, given the new rules.
But I read that Erin Routliffe has just changed nationality from Canadian to New Zealand and will now "lead New Zealand's charge at the Fed Cup in Tajikistan on July 17"
