Note: I'm copying from the later Antalya thread I started into this one.. I thought I'd checked to see if there was another but like Super T I had not seen this earlier thread that was some way back.. So mods can deleted the one I started
As Super T noted, Gabi has received a WC to stay in Turkey this week, which is why she hasn't appeared in Nantes!
Also suggests her retirement from last week's final wasn't too bad an issue.
R32: Gabriella TAYLOR (GBR) [WC] [1] 376 vs Alina MICHALITSCH (AUT) [Q] UNR/2081
Gabi is not in the doubles this week, nor is Mira Antonitsch with whom she won the doubles title last week. Both just focusing on singles, Gabi obviously having retired in the second set of the singles final after a complete no show for whatever reason.
Seeming no ill effects from last week for Gabi. Gabi's next match is a rematch of her first round of last week when she won 1 & 0. Tilbeurger will be glad she has a ranking point before facing Gabi this week.

Broke serve in the first game, then had problems serving and was broken to love, before calling it a day after the third game.
Time to end the season and recuperate I think.
Yes for sure. I'm surprised she played this week again after her retirement from the final last Sunday. But she does need to be fit in mind and body for next season now... I hope she has or will sort out some better coaching arrangement too.
Goodness knows what caused Gabi to become so much more dramatic a year or so ago. She was previously pretty feisty but the berating herself and throwing rackets about was a strange new addition which should have been sorted out asap. It sure hasn't been helpful.
She's overtaken Jodie in this departnent and Jodie has been naturally volatile for as long as I have known so it's much more understandable with her, if still worth working on.
Well it sure has gone seriously wrong in 2019. In comparing the British ladies singles rankings for 2019 and 2018 excluding the injured Katie Boulter , Gabi had tbe highest percentage fall of any player. There were 32 players in the list.
Yes, and not only has it been a totally dreadful season for her but it's still not clear at all that she will find a way back. These three tournaments in Antalya kind of sum it up. An overwhelming top see in each event, she was thrashed in the first final, retired in the second final whilst being thrashed even more (and still it's not clear what that was about), and then retires her in the 2nd round. All of which raises a lot of questions about the coaching and advice she's been given now. Coz frankly, if she did have a niggle in the final on Sunday, then what on earth was she doing playing here again this week?
Gabi started the year ranked 187, next week she will be ranked around 422, and there is nothing false about that ranking based on her current form and frame of mind. I hope she can recover some of her earlier inspiration soon.
