That was a great effort from Nell, though no doubt she will be disappointed she did not force that decider. Still she was playing someone close to the top 500.
And a wonderful win for Jamine in just over 2.5 hours. Depending on how much gas she has left in the tank Jasmine may have a good chance in her next match too though Failla did put out the 2nd seed in the first round.
R16: Nell MILLER (GBR) [Q] UNR/1948 lost to Pamela MONTEZ (USA) [1] 510 (CH:454 (Sept 19) 5-7 5-7
R16: Jasmine Amber ASGHAR (GBR) [Q] UNR/UNR def Madeleine KOBELT (USA) 1115/740 (CH:893 Nov 16) 6-7(4) 7-5 6-3
From both Nell's and Jasmine's performances here, one thing this tournament in far away Oklahoma shows is the value of W15 tournaments to help players get a foot on the ranking ladder. Both these two players should have WTA rankings. They are good enough and have had rankings previously, losing them only because of the lack of appropriate playing opportunities.
I wonder if anyone at the LTA even knows these two are playing here this week, or can care a toss? It really does show up the myopia and obstinacy in the LTA's thinking that it still won't reconsider the doing away with all tournaments in the UK at this level.

The LTA have sent out this email today as to how they 'recognise successful performance in the UK and provide the opportunity for players to earn wild cards into our Professional events in 2020'.
In 2020, there will once again be 4 distinct swings of Pro Series events (February, April, July/August, and September). The intention of which is to provide more opportunities for our best British players to compete, earn ranking points and win prize money in this country.

A lot simpler if they just had a few W15 tournaments!!!
