Out of interest, has the British Tour finished now since October , presumably it all closed down for Lockdown 2? Anyone (TA?) any ideas if there are events planned for the new year at all?
I don't think there have been any further events since October
On the schedule the following are now listed:-
18-19 December 2020 - British Tour Masters at the NTC - Grade 1 - Invitational
27-30 December 2020 - British Tour Aldershot - Grade 2
02-05 January 2021 - British Tour Redbridge - Grade 2
No news on the LTA site beyond that.
Arthur Fery and Grace Piper head the leaderboards.
Thanks TA. Presumably they know who should be in the masters field, a 2 day event must only be an 8 player field for men and 8 for women? Or 16?
Presumably theyre just organising invites and acceptances running down the points list?
In the past , do they seed the masters based on points standings or on world rankings? Guess the former is fairer but could lead to an imbalance in the draw?
They were 8-player events last year - and they held Tie-Break 10's the night before. I believe it is done according to the Leaderboard.
There were only two seeds, based on world rankings.
Tight first set but young Arthur takes it 6-4, and deserved it on balance.
It's been rewarding watching Féry developing - he's still got the skills I liked so much (a lot of flair, great timing and a real vision for the game), still hasn't grown too much (Stanford site says 5ft 9, which would be about right, still time, he's only just 18, but a few more inches would be good), but is really putting it together well now.
Was wondering what the prize money was for this. Managed to find it. Some good money to be had especially for the finalist and winner
Winner: £4,500
Runner up: £2,250
Semi- final: £750
