RE: Trump

I like all your words, SC

But I also think they imply that he's not in control of himself, that he's mentally ill, etc etc

Which may have a grain of truth - but also sounds too much like a 'reasonable excuse'

Whereas I prefer words like immoral, unprincipled, cruel, dishonest, dishonourable, corrupt, fraudulent, base, vicious, brutish, etc etc

(I could go on for a LONG time)

Lets add narcissist to that list.

Trump knows full well he cant invade by force a land that belongs to a fellow NATO member. The other NATO members would be compelled to protect Greenland. NATO would collapse. World sanctions on the USA would be devastating for American businesses and economy, that is if a world war didnt break out. Trump knows that and wont do anything involving force. This is all posturing and stoking his ego. And seeing how far pressure will take him.

Very sorry re SC's mother, and respect for what she was saying re using other words ( though some have not dissimilar connotations )  but she did ask the question, and there have been various apparent experts in the field that have written regarding their concerns about Trump showing increasing signs of genuine dementia.

Indeed no real excuse for the underlying problems re Trump stem from these other words that CD lists that hold true from all we have seen over the years. But to my mind it adds a very possible worrying element to the Trump c0cktail.

While very probably what Jon says re Greenland is true re posturing etc, what he does generally over time could become more unpredictable, not helped by the nodding lackeys in his administration.

Maybe already something Denmark could / should be raising with the UN? Could put Starmer in a corner.

I'll hold up my hand.  I realised that I was opening the door by using the word myself, but had been racking my brains for a single term which encapsulated the man's mental state (even referring to him as a clown is an insult to genuine clowns!) & eventually decided to risk it, perhaps with the concept of the dementors in Harry Potter at the back of my mind...  Of my suggestions, "unhinged" & "certifiable" arguably come closest to satisfying my aim, but don't really pack quite the same punch.  scratchhead2.gif

The latest episode in this saga.  All power to Joyce Beatty's elbow.  I can't believe that Trump's name had already been added!  furious

Merry Christmas everyone!

Oooh!  Handbags!  Never heard of Chuck Redd, though I now gather that he's an American jazz drummer &, according to Wiki, "vibraphonist".  Who in his or her right mind would shell out good money to watch him perform?  confuse

I notice the Center Predident, Richard Grenell, adopts typical Trump lackey inappropriate language for someone in such a position, with such as "Your dismal ticket sales  ...." in his communication.with Redd.

No need for the put down of Redd ( soneone you say you had bever heard of  ) or his fans, SC, nor do I understand your confusion. We all have preferred artists or sports people who matter to us but may not be to others' tastes or indeed not even known to them. FWIW I hadn't heard of him either.

Dear old Indy.  Ever the voice of reason.  Grenell's intemperate language was why I described the episode as "handbags".  However, the confuse was meant to convey not confusion, but complete bafflement as to why on earth anyone would want to pay to listen to some geezer beating the hell out of a set of drums for a couple of hours!  I doubt whether many, if any, on here would share my love of late eighteenth, nineteenth & early twentieth century classical music (my one & only visit to the Kennedy Center some years ago - pre-Trump - was for a classical orchestral concert), especially opera, so chacun à son goût, I guess.

That certifiable megalomaniac in the White House is slowly, but surely, dragging us to the brink of World War III.  furious  Now it seems that the UK assisted in the tanker seizure.

I doubt the repulsive Trump regime actually bring us any closer to World War Iii but they signal a green light to Russia and China to also act as unlawfully as they see fit with such as elements of the former Soviet Union and Chinese Taipei.

Suits them all and not a lot anyone else can do about if. Or that each of the horrible 3 will do about each other.

FWIW ( very little really in the grand scheme of the awful effect on so many people's lives ), if Trump was to follow through by force on Greenland in the next 4 months or so, I would expect Denmark ( which already has separate issues with FIFA ) to boycott the Trump Vanity FIFA World Cup and I would hope that all the other UEFA countries at least would follow suit. But ultimately he would no doubt get away with it politically and militarily.

I think invading Greenland would tear NATO and Europe apart, which ultimately seems to be his aim. US of A is returning to the Wild West culture. Hopeful it wont bring on WW3, only because there is too much money at stake. With Trump a that is all that matters. Not environmental impact, morals and values just dirty dollars. Rant over!

Repulslon upon repulsion at home and abroad.

Whatever the facts ( and they seem at least very debatable ), for the administration to so instantly side with the agent, and his bosses' account and thrashing of the woman's character, is absolutely out of order in any reasonable democracy.

Var's Wild West reference appears apt here too.
