The Observer believes that Larry Stefanki is the coach that Andy's management have been talking to. They also suggest that Stefanki is unwilling to travel for more than 10 weeks a year.
No no no no no no no no no.
Stefanki has a great track record; that is apart from wrecking Henman's chances of winning Wimbledon by cutting the pace off his first serve. The last thing Andy needs is a coach that hasn't got a clue about serving.
I think Larry Stefanki would be a pretty good choice, though I think Andy needs someone with him more than 10 weeks per year. Stefanki has the right pedigree, having had great success with Kafelnikov, Rios and McEnroe. Some people have talked about McEnroe as a coach, but this would never work, McEnroe has no track record as a coach and he is way too busy anyway.
Bob Brett, Darren Cahill and Brad Gilbert would all be excellent choise if they are willing. Maybe one of the Spannish coaches would be a good choice, though I am not really familiar with any of them...
I agree with Kundalini, hopefully not Stefanki. He ruined Tim's game.
Andy and Tim get on well and talk together a lot, so perhaps Tim will have given his advice on that one. If, of course, he realises that Stefanki ruined his serve.

Agree 100% with you there Maddy, it became obvious that that is what happend first time he played after taking on Stefanki it was that quick, Tim had a good serve till then , not fast but the accuracy and placement was more than good enough , lets hope Andy stays well clear.
Agree with RJA, 10 weeks is a very short time in the tennis year. At the moment Andy needs a coach who's prepared to travel with him all year round so that the coach can highlights areas which they need to work on and also plan tactics for his opponents.
Stefanki is definately not the man for the job, he'll probably make Andy's serving problems even worse. The standard of returning in the men's game is such that players need to have a really aggressive first serve with plenty of bite on it. After Stefanki altered Henman's serving, players were able to let rip at it on the return at will.
Yeah, Andy just confimed that during live interview on Sky. His words "unfortunately looks like Stepanki is going to work woth Gonzales, he got in before me. The search goes on".
He said there were three or four on the list (Stepanki being one of them) although Andy has yet to speak personally to any of them
