Week 51 - ITF M15 - Antalya, Turkey (clay)

Billy has lost the 1st set. Didnt see the start but the 2nd break against him he was cruising at 40-0. From what Ive seen very much in the match. Despite the 6-2 first set score line.

Not to be for Billy lost 6-2 6-3. Didnt think he played badly a few unforced errors probably cost him at times. I thought on another day he could have beat the opponent.

Pity. But still a really good week for Billy. Will be interesting now to see if he can back it up over the coming weeks.

Good week for Billy. Week off next week? When is he next scheduled to play?

Maybe if hes hanging around Antalya he can get to practice with one or two of the atp pros as they arrive, not sure of restrictions in place? AO seems to be putting in place severe restrictions yet these itf events are presumably quite loose relatively ?

If I was the organiser in Antalya or Monastir, Manacor or Sharm or any other venue with multiple events, Id think about linking them with maybe a points system or some such and having the top 8 come back near year end for a masters, winner takes all type event with decent money. tunisia had 44 itf weeks this year apparently and linking them would create a narrative , which Im always keen on.

Would be nice and I guess might entice players there if the final tournament had a good pot of money. However I assume these resorts are not that interested in giving away prize money. I assume they are making a profit even after the prize money.

Would be interesting to see the sums of putting on the tournaments. I assume some costs are saved by the tournaments being on all the time and their being joint Mens and Womens tournaments.

Looking at the price of a room on the Mega Saray website. Going on an assumption that players get it at 50%. Then its 45.50 a night although probably a bit more think 91 is all inclusive. Assuming that you have at least 50 players staying on at least 5 nights thats 11375 euros. Entry for tournament is 36 for Singles and 18 for doubles. That should be about another 2000ish.

Would be interesting to see the sums behind these resort tournaments.

Certainly a good way of keeping rooms occupied during the off season and it also probably minimises players costs aswell. Not a bad way to spend winter.  Interested to know if any of the players offer any coaching while they are there or hire themselves out as hitting partners to supplement income.
