Yes Cam saved 2 match points and broke at 3-6, 4-5 although has just lost serve to go down 5-6 again. Korda to serve for the match once again. Have been impressed by Korda tonight.

Yep Korda serves out to win 6-3, 7-5. Whilst Korda has played well, must admit a bit disappointed by Cam.

Match report for last time until Melbourne or Melbourne 2, depending on what one the Brits are playing.

I was very impressed by Sebi Korda (as Simon Reed likes to refer to him) but Cam played very poorly, especially on serve, double faulting at inopportune moments of service games.

He did fight valiantly as expected, on very rare occasions playing well.

This week has been positive for him but he himself will know he had a great chance of reaching a final for first time in over a year (was it Auckland 2020?). As was said in commentary, Cam needs the good weeks so his ranking can get to where he, and we, believe it can.

I'm glad my reports are going down well, at first I wasn't sure if I was giving to much info or too little info :laugh:

Auckland 19 was his only atp final. In fact, all his finals at challenger level where in the USA as well as all but one futures final, he made one in Israel as well.

nonetheless good week for him.

Cam as well as Dan are both in Melbourne 2. This is now the slightly stronger
One of the two following drop outs. Andy is alt 15 in Melbourne 2 but now is alt 12 in Melbourne 1, following Kyle, isner and garin dropping out. garin is also in Andy and Dans training bubble son not sure how they replace him, or what the process is for that!?

Hurkacz went on to win the title with Korda apparently struggling with injury.

In winning the title, Hurkacz became the 17th player since 1984 to win a Main Tour ATP event without having to play a Top 100 player. His victories were against players ranked, 115, 293, 789, 119.

Following on the thread there are some interesting stats about ATP wins for the Big 4. Andy, with his 46 titles, has always had to play a player 22 or better. The others have had it easier on occasions.
