Forgot about Andy, sounds like an ok start.

He looks a bit more solid than yesterday. Bit of a typical Andy stumble at the back end of the set but takes it 6-4

6-4 3-2 up. Andy seems to be doing the keep it simple, 1 break each set approach this week. Has he lost his own serve during the week?

Anyone else feel like this has turned out to be a better path than the Aus Open?

Having watched most of that and his first round match Id say Andy level wise is 50-100 in the rankings. I have my doubts whether he can get back into the top 50 and perform at Slams. I suppose it boils down to what he is looking to achieve. Would be nice for him to have a deep Wimbledon. Its really hard to tell at times though.

Its looking like Thiem, Zverev, Medvedev and Tsitsipas will be the big 4 going forward now as well, think we are finally starting to see the old guard drop off especially with fitness issues surrounding them all. Id expect the Aus Open winner to come from one of those 4.

Yes, I had been thinking that too. AO would have been a  lot of palavar for realistically not much play.

I think I read he has got more points than for losing in round 2 of AO, if he wins his semi.? 48 in Biella v 45 of he lost rd 2 of AO. So that in itself is a big plus, plus more matches and maybe he will build on that substantially this week and next.

Cant see any negatives as hard to imagine he would have played 5 sets and won beyond round 2

I very nearly commented the same last night. Like they say, everything happens for a reason. As much as it must have been disappointing not going to Australia, it's pretty clear that without a very fortuitous draw he would've been out 1st round, probably knowing Andy, in 5 gruelling sets.  This is a far better option.
