 Nardi is yet another of the Italian kindergarten outing.

Age 17, he is JWR 22 at the moment (JCH 17) 

He lost 4-6 4-6 to Paul Jubb last week.

Most of his adult points come from a 15k title in Egypt this time last year when he was 16. 

But that's partly because he's been trying challengers, and playing juniors too, for a large part of last year so hasn't amassed the normal amount of efforts in regular 15ks.  

Will be interesting to see how it pans out. Could be very close....

Unfortunately Jack seems to have retired at 3-2 up in the first set.

 Nice to win, but he really should not be playing in these small leagues, he should be far higher up the rankings. He has been a big disappointment.

In the short term a bit disappointing but I think he has had a few injury issues ( and has retired here ) on top of the stop/start covid situation. And as I said seemed to be still searching for bettet form again, and no doubt a good run of tournaments. 

And he is still only 19.

 He will have to live with this pressure, there is literally nobody else coming through the ranks that is top 100 potential right now. Yes, Edmund, Norrie and Evans, can maybe be ranked top 100 for next 5 years, but in the bracket below, 100-250, nobody is coming up.

While certainly thinking give Jack much more time to develop ( hipefully ) a lot further, I certainly don't disagree about the calamatous lack of men's players coming through.

That he may be the one we are currently particularly looking to is not Jack's fault.

At this stage, people say giving him more space to develop without being too judgemental might help a bit.

Yes, it's not Jack's fault that no one is really threatening to get anywhere near the top 100 at the moment.

And he's going to have plenty of media pressure just from his name. Carrying UK hopes is just another thing he may well have to get used to.

And it's not really Jack's cohort that should be the focus here i.e. it would be great if our 2001-ers WERE getting close (or even just one of them) but the bigger issue is the age 21-14 cohort i.e. the 'normal' group that should be knocking on the door to the top 150, top 100.

Paul Jubb and Jay Clarke are the only two within shouting distance - and Jay, in particular, has not been on top form for a while.

(Liam may take it on but he's a bit older now).

I'm always hopeful that some of our US college players might 'do a Cam', or even 'do a Jubby', but it's difficult to know what their plans are (and indeed, their level).

The Os thread  has not been added to since 2018, would be great to see more college players coming through smile
