Unlike the women's matches, the first two matches in the men today have been remarkably close.

Houghton took the first set off Cash in a TB, 7-6(1)

And Billy has just had to work really hard to get the first set off Canter, also in a TB, 7-6(5)

(Canter needs to work out his net approaches, he obviously doesn't like to, has points where he sees - with hindsight - that he should have gone in, and so goes to the net on a daft shot the next point....)

Julian Cash was the very clear favourite but George Houghton won in two sets

Billy also defeated Alexis in two sets

Group B is incredibly open and any of the top 5 could make it through to the semifinals.

In group b, todays results work out so that mark whitehouse and Sean hodkin qualify for semis. Anton tops group a and plays hodkin in semis. Dan most probably will play mark w in the semis, barring an upset
