How on earth did he manage to turn that one round?  The Japanese served for it at 5-2 in the third!

L64:  (9) Grigor Dimitrov (BUL) WR 16 (CH = 3 in November 2017) vs Cameron Norrie WR 56

L64:  (19) Daniel Evans WR 29 vs Frances Tiafoe (USA) WR 58 (CH = 29 in February 2019)

I like Francis, hes got a decent character and seems a bright but relaxed guy! But Dan should just have his number . Could be tough though

Indeed, Dan beat Francis in Antwerp in October although it was tight before
That.

Yes the cupboard in indeed bare as Indiana says. Liam is our best chance of making the top 100 in the next couple of years. Shame to see him retire but he should never have had the MDWC in the first place in my opinion.

And Liam isn't even new, having been around for years. So the cupboard really is bare in terms of new players coming through.

He hasn't played a lot of matches lately and the physicality of this level isn't something he's used to either. I think there's cause for optimism.

He's played a heap more matches than many of our men.

He played 6 in February and 3 before this event in March.

That's more than his opponent did. And more than quite a lot of players.

And I don't think the physicality is much different if you're only talking about two-thirds of one set.

However, I'm not saying not to be optimistic - he's 19 - there's a lot of time and space for his career to develop.

What a cracking match this has been

I know it sounds a bit churlish but Liam was a bit of a wombat to lose that first set - just a couple of sloppy points when it mattered.

BUT he really deserves to get the second, played tough, and hard. Good tennis.

Think they might be getting a bit tired, the two of them?

Liam 1 set all after 2 hours and both players look dead on their feet.

Yeah. Think Kec. will start to swing a bit more. Don't think he wants to play the long points.

And just to keep tabs on it, the score is 5-7 7-6(5)

Yup, he played beautifully for those first few games and looked like going 4-0 up but lost his way a little.
