This is super smart scheduling from Dan imo. Best option to get a couple of matches on the red stuff, get adjusted, give the new coach an opportunity to see how he moves and plays on it.
Less so from Lloyd. Why would he and Harri not continue to play together?

There were some comings and goings in the doubles pairings. The entries week 14 thread has some details.
Essentially Lloyd did enter wirh Harri but they were initially just alts. However Jonny was entered with Ken, and then when Ken withdrew Jonny turned to Lloyd as a replacement partner as a new rule apparently allows players to do when one of a pair csn't play. I believe at that point Ken was the only withdrawal ( though Rajeev & Joe were to withdraw too ) and Jonny could maybe have found a high enough ranked partner other than Lloyd, leaving Lloyd & Harri still as first alts and potentially neither getting a play.
The new rule is clearly there to help out MD players losing their intended partner late on but it has the porential as here to get a bit messy, especially if regular alts are there on standby. I'm not convinced about it.
I assume that Harri is understanding and that he & Lloyd will be an ongoing partnetship. At least they both got in in the end if not how originally intended.

Harris blog shows he is good with it all and Lloyd and harri seem established. I also wondered whether they might have been better going a few weeks longer in challengers together , eating up the points to get into the top 100 comfortably and then being strongly positioned to get into atp fields together. But maybe this way they can also achieve the same aim but with a few tournies apart.

With 3 Slams in the next 4-5 months I assume they decided they needed to push on particularly with a bottleneck in the ratings. With no points dropping off, players have to maximise the points they can gain to get any real movement upwards.
Lloyd & Harri would have to keep making Challenger finals ( which admittedly they are rather adept at ) to make much ranking progress.
Lloyd's bottom ranking counter is 25 then 29s, which is Challenger 80 SF points. Harri's bottom counter is 29. So for Challenger 80s they'ed really need 48 RU points or 80 title pounts for any real net progress. Though the bigger challengers would offer more.
I know this is a 250 and Evo is top seed, but this is a joke. Evans winning a few rounds here would be an amazing feat, given how poor he is on clay. Clay and grass season should use own seeding system.

Oh please no, we don't need different ranking/seeding systems. All adds to the fun if players are arguably seeded out of line with their abllity on a surface.
