A really quick turn around for Dan, can see him getting beaten quite easily, especially if he meets Musetti.
I guess he might leave Miami this evening. Which might mean he gets there by tomorrow evening. Having the first round bye I assume he might not start till Wednesday?

And perhaps play his doubles opener Tuesday to get his body attuned ?

It's still a quick turnaround and he is down to play doubles and singles on a different surface. Players have withdrawn for less. And either opponent he meets in R2 isn't exactly a mug.

I suspect Dan is getting a guarantee to make it worth his while? Otherwise its a big journey to make as pointed out.
As the top name left, wouldnt surprise me if he was getting 50k appearance fee to play both events. Id make the effort for that. Back in 1990, Jon wertheim reported in his book Hard Court that even players like Jay Berger if ranked top of the field in a 250 equivalent would get 25k. That is thirty years ago. Dan must be getting something as top seeded
Player to take part in both.
The other way to look at it is its difficult to pop home and then out again in the current circumstances. You go to a tournament hotel will be covered if you win its good practice on the clay if you lose then your at a venue with players to train with.

I agree, absolutely no point coming back to the UK. He could be in Sardinia this afternoon, and he is unlikely to play Singles before Wednesday, doubles maybe Tuesday which is perfect, get a sighter in. I'm sure they will give him an afternoon/early evening match start. It's not ideal match preperation but I'm sure most players have experienced worse.
