Dang Dang Dang, and I could have cashed out at at 30 quid gain at one point - I never learn, but I had such faith in Dan with all his tie break wins in doubles recently.
I don't think I expected Dan to win but having turned around the match in set 2 and got himself a bucket full of match points, I did hope he would see it through.
Nonetheless, hes got a few weeks on clay now (and an extra week prior to the French!) so can play himself, with his doubles, into clay court form!
Evo and Coria are all over there opponents 6-2 4-2 ahead. Dan turning into quite the doubles expert! I hope he is able to turn that into singles form, but for now, lets take the doubles success.
Clearly prefer Dan winning singles matches but his singles against the upwardly mobile young Italian was not bad to get so close ( pity about that ending! ) and it should be useful to get more match time on clay.
