Not quite sure what to make of that, we have no idea of where Andy's game or level is at, Benoit was borderline tanking the whole game. Overall level was probably lower than futures or WTA.
Great to hear Andy talking eatlier about how he was out there playing because he just loves playing tennis and competing and misses it a lot when he isn't. As he said he owes no-one anything.
So all the best to him. Whatever, I hope everyone lets him be. He'll stop trying to compete when he wants to. And that no doubt goes for Fed too and many others at different levels who may seem to have their varying travails
I think Andy has earned the right to play if he wants to, but stringing matches together might be a tough ask.
The tour doesn't come to a halt when an individual player is injured/lost focus/ageing. It moves on and makes room for other players. I'm still gutted that Borg and McEnroe are retired...
So I hope Andy enjoys every moment and whenever he decides to hang up his headband he will have a raft of achievements to his name.
Caught a bit of both matches. I thought Dan looked good and I thought Paire looked like .... well, Paire. Glad Andy won comfortably but harder tests will lie ahead.
Also interesting discussion on Twitter about the Halle draw being 1000 field and the cinch being a 250 field. Many people are wondering why, the answer and suggestion is Halle is a better experience overall. Ive been shot down on here earlier on this thread but many of the insular Brits on here should many open the windows and take a lot outside.

Hmm, I don't know. But anyone who replied to your earlier ruminating that the player s supposedly disliked Queen's, by pointing to the ATP polling on favourite 250/500 events, seemed to be labelled by you as some elitist Queen's lover while not having expressed a personal view themselves. I certainly didn't. Never been, I don't have personal or second hand experiences to comment on but the ATP polling was directly relevant to your comments about the players thoughts. Some players may dislike ir, quite a number have clearly liked it over the years relative to other tournaments
Certainly a very big dvergence in the fields. Appearance money? Covid related? Most now think Halle just a better overall experience than Quees's whatever the tiimes ? I don't know. I'd imagined some mixture anyway.
Anyway you seem to know that it is the case ( or just suggested ) that "Halle is a better ecperience overalll". Been some fresh polling? Polled for reasons?
It would be interesting to get some real feel for why such an imbalance.

Really liked this post - Thank you
Agreed with sentiments in Armchairs post - Andy clearly cares a lot and loves the sport and what it gives him and it was evident in his emotions yesterday. Lets enjoy it while we can!
