Real serve fest in the first set. Until the end where Bublik served a nightmare but Jack made three UEs.
Then at 5 all in the tb, Bublik slipped and looked a bit upset and lost the tb.
Watched the 1st set of Cam's match before going out to work. Really high quality from both players and Cam was hitting the ball very solidly. Glad he got the win.
Got home in time for the last 3 games +TB of Jack's match but had to watch with the sound off because I was on the phone. What the hell was going on with Bublik in the TB. It's like he just threw in the towel.
Regardless of that, from the little I saw, Jack looked very impressive again. QF in an ATP 500 is a huge achievement.

I enjoy watching Bublik, he is an entertainer. He also uses all sorts of tactics to win matches = also entertaining. I know this will erk a certain generation on here but tennis needs to evolve /survive. I'm sure these tacticts also get sponsors swarming, which is how a lot of players keep going. So maybe winning isnt the most important thing for Bublik? In terms of 'gambling tanks' which I think you are referring to. There is a global high tech system in place to analyse gambling stats. No chance a high profile player would do this esp with his style. Well done Jack btw, he got through all of the above
I sort of agree, Jiwan. We need variety. And characters.
Certainly Peter Fleming in the commentary said he'd done similar things as a player ie faked a tank to try and destabilise the opponent, then all of a sudden ramping it up a level or three just as the other guy is serving for it.
He didn't say he's then thrown the last few points but the gamesmanship part was all fair in love and war, in his view
