I sort of agree, Jiwan. We need variety. And characters. Certainly Peter Fleming in the commentary said he'd done similar things as a player ie faked a tank to try and destabilise the opponent, then all of a sudden ramping it up a level or three just as the other guy is serving for it. He didn't say he's then thrown the last few points but the gamesmanship part was all fair in love and war, in his view
But if Jack had lost a tie break from 6-0 down to an apponent holding his racquet in the opposite hand? It would have destroyed him. So why not go beserk to win the mental game? As I said it's not for everyone but it's 'new'
But what on earth was Bublik up to ? Ridiculous shots, stupid points., definitely not playing to win.
I don't think it's a good idea to take that match as a sign of Drapers arrival with the big guys ( though Andrew Castle thinks so).
And very off topic - I have a notion a few years back that it was mentioned the UK tax laws make playing Halle vs Queens a better financial option.
If Queens paid an appearance fee to Bublik they definitely bought a dud. Not a gambler so no idea if there are other implications here.
Madness once more on this thread, and typical rubbish from Andrew Castle. Draper's game is made for grass, and remember, Queen's is not just Grass, it is super fast grass, possibly 25% faster than Wimbledon due to grass type.
I still think his movement needs lots of work, he does move half as well as players of similar height, like Zverev and Tspas.

Of the 4 into the last 8, jack is the only one to not drop a set. Hes also won 4 7-6 sets.
nice random occurrence that his first 5 sets have all gone to tiebreaks even though he didnt get to start the breaker in his first one in the US. 4-0 tie break record is a nice start- must at least partly be due to playing big points well. I think Musetti is 9-0 in tiebreaks this year - will be fun to see which 19yo cracks first on that one .
great to see jack stepping up on tour. Always had the sense he was the type to lay better with a crowd etc. For me it has surprised that he hasnt gone for challengers instead of futures a little more but it seems not to have harmed him much!!
