Ddidn't they chage how LLs are awarded a small number of years ago? IIRC there was concern that a highly ranked player in FQR would have no incentive if he knew that he would be awarded an LL spot if he was to lose. I'm sure there are members of the board who are more au fait with rules and regs than I am.
There is no shortage of tennis being played today!
Top 4 ranking FQR losers go into a pot to be drawn. I think there is also some adjustment to numbers if there are more than 2 LL spots available. Then I think if all 4 get a place in the MD and another spot comes up it goes by ranking

The rules for Lucky Losers are slightly different to what people have posted above.
Just to clarify, this is a straight copy from the ATP rulebook
"Lucky Losers shall be selected based on the computer rankings as follows: If there are no vacancies when the qualifying event has been completed, then the order of the Lucky Loser list shall be selected on the basis of their position on the FedEx ATP Rankings (singles or doubles) list used for determination of qualifying seeding (protected ranking is not considered). If there is a vacancy in the main draw when qualifying is completed then the order of the two (2) highest ranked players shall be randomly drawn, thereafter the order shall follow the players rankings, unless there are two (2) or more withdrawals at the time the Qualifying competition is finished in which case the size of the random draw will be the number of withdrawals plus one (1)."
3 lines into commentary and Andrew Castle is spouting nonsense, after two weeks of Petchey at it
The best comment from Petch was: Will players evolve physically over the next 10 years to consistently hit a ball over X mph?
Not sure what natural selection pressure would have such a rapid impact? Or what advantage this would confer for the non tennis playing portion human race?
I can understand that technology advances in rackets/balls etc might give rise to changes in the game..or player development, but evolution within a decade? Maybe he was thinking of some kind of cybernetic human adaptaction.
A tech advance I would like, is to be able to turn off the commentary, but still hear the ball being struck and the crowd and players
