6pts for Dan, pleased for him. Zhang looks in just as good form as Ryan, should be a tough final
Not 100% sure but I think it's just 4 points now, Shhh, since the changes
(someone out there will be able to confirm....)
Yep I'm pretty sure its 4 for semi final 6 for R/U 10 for winner winner chicken dinner
Of course, quite right. I should think before I post. Still pleased for Dan though, nice to get a ranking back and the difference between 4pts and just the 1pt is relevant when getting into qualies, being seeded in them and so on. Anything that makes life a little easier :)
There was a short mto between the sets, presumably for Zheng, but Ryan won the 2nd set decisively not letting Zheng in, no break points for him. 6-1, well done Ryan!!
And well done, the Greek federation, for hosting events that our players obviously seem to like, and can get to, and where they play well.
Let's hope next week is more of the same.
To be honest the events at Antalya. Monastir and Heraklion make a lot more sense than running event in the UK in my opinion. I'd be inclined to give our players 2 x 4 week funded stints per year at these events, maybe they do who knows

Yes, absolutely. Everyone makes a big deal about local events, and I do agree.
But (leaving Covid aside) it's not really much more expensive or difficult for a player based in Southampton, say, to have to go and play in Edinburgh, than to hop on a plane to the places that you mention. And they'll have to pay B&B wherever they are (unless lucky enough to have friends in Edinburgh). Having some sort of voucher system, to subsidise a couple of stints, sounds a very good idea.
However, I think for the bigger picture you also need local events. For kids coming through, to spark local interest, improve umpiring standards etc. For tennis to be an industry in the UK, events are important. It's all a balance, I guess.
