I'm not sure if Jay will still be in quals come Wimbledon, probably, although he surely must have a large chunk of his points to defend in the coming months because (admittedly more on the outside looking in) he seems to have done very little for at least 18 months, even accounting for COVID, but, if he is still inside the qual cut off, and thus, doesn't require a QWC, then he's probably more likely to be boosted up to a main one, whereas the others would still benefit from a 'handout', even if it was 'just' a QWC. I guess that, and still being pretty young, should just about see him in the main draw. Plus I guess (having just checked) he is defending R2 points from 2019, so possibly deserves a shot at defending them.

I think everyone agrees Andy, Liam, Jay and Jack will get a wild card. Plus two challenger mens event winners from Nottingham.

Which leaves two spaces- this year with everyone having struggled it would be good to allocate them. At this stage Ryan, Anton and Paul lead the pack but I guess some decent form in the next four weeks could see someone in.

Does the junior winner from 2019 get one and who was that?

Er, don't think emmsie thinks so. She was quite clear about Jay (Although there's a distinction, with everyone, about who deserves one and who will get one anyway)

And if the Nottingham event definitely give the winners one, there's still a good chance they won't be needed (i.e. the person who wins will be in the top 100 anyway). So there may well be more left over.

Haha. Yep, no Jay currently. From my brief check he's accumulated less than 100 poin5s since AO 2020 and there's a lot of non counters in there where he's lost 1st round. He's entering lower challengers and still losing. Maybe a lack of a WC will make him reevaluate his career and make some changes. Anton is on the up, Jay is sliding down

Oh yes, agreed and I was coming from the who will most likely get one for those four listed.

re Nottingham, clearly no formal announcement and youre correct re the entry level, certainly For the ilkley @ Nottingham event.

I see junior 2019 champ was Mochizuki, of Japan, currently ranked 506 or so. would they give him one?

Just had a look and the FFT gave a MDWC to Arthur Cazaux ranked in the mid 400s

Absolutely. THere's another thread with this on.

The FFT's wildcards are radical - men and women - given out irrespective of rankings, very pro-French, pro-youngsters, pro-talent.

I know some don't agree (and have good logic) but if the LTA are simply scared off because of bad press, then that's daft.

I'd like such as Ryan and Anton to be given MD WCs ( well as long as Slams give MD WCs and the FFT do what they do ). It's just that as things stand I don't expect the LTA / AELTC to act similarly to the FFT and offer such WCs

Was just trying to find out if the WC play-offs were happening this year. Don't appear to be on going by the following at the below link. I assume this is so the LTA/AELTC can give them out to whom they want this year. As can't see why they can't play a tournament as plenty of tennis being played.

I've been checking for information on the LTA website via the British Tour pages for some weeks now - and there it is buried in a different document ! As a number of the women players (don't folow the men closely enough to comment) who would have been taking part in the playoffs are either in Nottingham, or playing abroad, I'd already assumed that there wouldn't be any play-offs this year.

Every year we have this same debate, I think wildcards, should be allowed, but the people should receive the R1 prize money. I'm sure somebody worked out on this forum that 1/6th of Bogdanovic's career earnings came from the 25 wimbledon wildcards he had or however many it was.

As for the names, Andy yes, Liam yes due to good year

Clarke and Draper should be given wildcards into qualifying but not main draw, neither have done enough in the last year.
