The bottom half of the draw is turning into an ATP 250. I think Isner will take out Sissypas and Opelka will take out Medvedev. Let's hope Fognini comes out from the Bottom half and we have a Nadal vs Fog final.

what is more interesting to me is how the AMericans like Isner, Opelka, Fritz have come good relatively on clay this season. Add to that Evo, Cam, and one or two others and it seems that players with flat, non dirt track games / pedigrees are getting some decent results.
Which makes me wonder why? There is no evidence from any of the 2020 results to suggest they would all do well; the French Open had a last 8 in September/October that was what might be termed typical.
So what has happened this season - are the players jaded with lockdown, is the surface playing a lot quicker generally for some reason (which doesnt make sense as the weather has generally been wet, cold and heavy in the clay season).
And will it translate into grass - will these guys continue a general uplift in form as the grass season takes over??

Is this a genuine misspelling or are you adding a slur to Tsitsipas' name?

Reason is that no-one plays clay court tennis anymore, generation of 3 shot point players who only know how to bash the ball.

I'm not sure how many ATP 250s contain the WRs 2, 5 and 6, Medvedev, Tsitsipas and Zverev.
OK, Medvedev is normally relatively useless on clay but Tsitsiipas and Zverev have won this year's Monte Carlo and Madrid Masters respectively.
Yes, their combined Slam record dousn't cut it. But I reckon you could have stretched beyond ATP 250!

But that's hardly suddenly new to answer Jon's queries re the differences from 2020 and before re then what clay courters as there are dominating later stages, and other players pushing through this year. It's more general longer term thoughts.
His questions remain. I think this whole unsettled covid time may be part of it. But just part of it, and we were already in covid times in last year's delayed and reduced clay season.
Assuming Gasquet loses tonight (against Nadal, and I don't think it's sticking my neck out too far to go along with that), there will be no French players, men or women, in R3 (single)
As one of the leading French tennis tweet guys is saying:
"Nous sommes les témoins d'une édition dramatiquement historique."
