I watched nearly all of the match. The first set was very high quality, DK impressed me greatly: Big hitting and no errors. Dan stayed with him though, but missed a very makeable volley behind his own serve. If it wasn't for that, he'd have made it to the TB. The 2nd set was very diffferent. Kudla's level dropped and Dan won the set as easily as the 6-1 scoreline suggests. I felt confident that Dan would rin away with the third. He played a horrible opening service game at the start of the decider. This let DK back in and gave him hope which I don't think he otherwise would have had. Dan had several chances to break back but wasn't able to take thhem.
Dan was guilty of negatve chuntering. He did however give his opponent credit when it was due. Something I liked about Dan was hhis intensity. I have watched Dan play plenty of times over the years, and this intensity was often missing when he was in tough situations when he was competing mainly on the challenger tour.
Dan has played a decent amount of tennis this week, in the overall scheme of things is not an important defeat. Let's hope for better next week and at Wimbledon!
