I've just watched SmugFed trying to get the crowd onside in his postmatch oncourt interview. I just hope that they do support Cam. It'll be horrible if it's like Andy matches when they used to supprt Fed over him.

It mystifies me too. There were a scattering of English people cheering on Djokovic against Jack Draper. I mean, does he really need more support than the 19 year old? Strange.

i think in an individual sport, many fans are vested in a player, a personality. We have seen it over the years in mens and womens games, people support a player quite often. It depends on the player, but I might well find myself supporting someone I really follow at a top sporting level than the Brit, although I would always want to see the Brit do well. No one right now, to be fair - none of the top guys are players I support - but historically I would have supported Borg, McEnroe, and others I liked over their British opponent...

it is a great last 32 draw, IMO

Djokovic-Kudla - Kudla could challenge, he knows grass, Djoko will win
Garín-Martínez
Schwartzman-Fucsovics - both are decent players
Fognini-Rublev - could be spicey

Tiafoe-Khachanov - upset on cards here
Evans-Korda - biggg match
Shapovalov-Murray - biggest match!
Koepfer-RBA - Koepfer could cause an upset here

Berrettini-Bedene - pick for final versus Italian star - JK; Berrettini could get to final , versus ex Brit Bedene
Ivashka-Thompson
FAA-Kyrgios - great match to look forward to
Fritz-Zverev - Fritz could challenge Zverev

Federer-Norrie - tasty!
Sonego-Duckworth - fancy the Aussie here
Hurkacz-Bublik - could be entertaining
Cilic-Medvedev - fancy the old timer here as well

Going for last 8 of

Djokovic v Rublev
Dan v Shapo
Berrettini v Nick K
Fed v Cilic
Semis -

Djoko v Shapo
Berretini v Fed

Final

Djoko v Berretini

Djoko I think will win it...

not going too well for Tiafoe just now!

People enjoy a certain type of tennis, some like Federers tennis, some like Murrays grind it out tennis, personally I do not enjoy watching Murray or Djokovic so I would defo be in the Federer camp. If Federer played Dan then I'd be torn and would just sit and enjoy.

Ah the old days with Steven's competition series when we predicted Slam ( and some masters ) round by round winners from R1 to the final. Jon you like competitions, and have nothing else much to do, so you could set these up again

QF:
Djokovic vs Schwartzman
Evans vs Shapovalov
Berrettini vs Zverev
Federer vs Medvedev

SF:
Djokovic vs Shapovalov
Berrettini vs Medvedev

Final:
Djokovic vs Medvedev

Winner : Djokovic

I guess that I would always try and support the Brit, I do have a reticence about Dan, but that's personal about something that was reported years ago. I get that he's reformed, but it still niggles with me.

i remember dan getting questioned by the police when he was younger, after some night out in Bath and accusations where made relating to a girl etc...I seem to recall he got dragged back from the USA or police flew out there or some such. But I dont think anything came of it and dont know the ins and outs or even whether there was any substance to it. I seem to recall it was dismissed very quickly and didnt go anywhere

Not sure Centre Court is going to get Andy today

Its 4 o'clock and the first match is still a way from finishing.

And then there's Dan.....

I know what you mean. I guess it just seemed odd to be encouraging him when he had so much more in his favour: playing experience, coaching team, experience of winning matches, experience of playing at Wimbledon etc. I guess I naturally tend to support the underdog in any case.

Apparently no 20 min gap between matches, Dan will be on almost immediately. Nick started his match Tuesday at just gone 8 so Dan has 4 hours to wrap this up and get Murray on court.
