If Emma was to get 100% of the vote simply then have a RU contest without Emma?
Though the downside (?) to that is that RU may effectively be decided by by one or two tactical votes in the initial vote.

I was thinking similar but the other way round. ie we accept the semi inevitable, do an initial vote among all the other candidates and the top 1 or 2 go to a final with Emma. ie Emma gets a bye to the final in honour of reaching (or winning) a slam singles final.
We can make the rules up as we go so that felt like it might solve it and avoid a tactical vote with a weird runner up emerging
I don't think that will work. I suggest a normal vote then declare Emma the winner and have a 2nd vote with the next 2 or 3 to determine 2nd place. or just don't bother with the 1st vote, declare Emma winner and put everyone else in the vote for R/Up. The previous 2 months had Emma win pretty comfortably and she didn't achieve half of what she has this season.

not Sure why it wont work?
If you have more than one in the final with Emma for winner and RU then RU is still likely to be decided by one or two odd / tactical / genuine votes.
So if you have an initial vote without Emma, make clear that this decides RU spot in the event ( ha! ) that Emma should win a subsequent final contest? In one way or other have a vote to effectively decide RU vote excluding Emma?

I just think with Emma in the poll it muddies the water for R/up, putting her either straight into the final and then having a poll for the best of the rest to go into the head to head for PoM or declaring her PoM (perfectly reasonable this time) and then having a poll for the R/up position will, IMO give a cleaner result particularly for the R/up place.

Thats what we are suggesting (what I suggested initially as well) - putting her straight into a final and having a poll to meet her.
I think we are all aligned . Dont like simply anointing her even if it is a foregone conclusion!
I feel like in a normal slam, someone making a mens doubles final would get a nomination regardless of outcome , and adding a mixed semi to that for one of them is icing on the cake. One could add the title. As it wont jinx them, one has to win the title, Im going to take the pressure off them both (ha. As if) and nominate joe and Jamie.
September PoM Nominations - 5 to date
Millen Hurrion
Dan Evans
Emma Raducanu
Joe Salisbury
Jamie Murray
A double slam winner at the us open and a calendar year slam winning title as well, in the same day ! I reckon this may not be as clear cut as we thought. Im waiting to see Alfies singles result tomorrow but a nomination coming in some form or other !
I just wondered - has there ever been a week like this in British tennis? 4 slam titles (Emma, Joe x2, Alfie / Gordon) and maybe Alfie to come later today ? Surely a life time high for us all?
Listen , its pretty clear - Emma won the US Open, no one else will win a slam this month !
Its pretty clear - Emma is player of the month , yeah? Anyone disagree? If folks agree, no point in a pointless vote, lets coronate her.
But Ill do a vote for RU only regardless.
Thats most expedient and rational in the circumstances I think, no point in beating around the bush.
I'm happy with that, if I'm brutally honest I would just make her Player of the Year aswell and be done with it. On the downside she is buggered next year unless she wins Wimbledon no more spurious noms for making MD or 2nd week, all or nothing for our Emma now, win or get off the pot.
