 Lovely to see the word creative star to appear in Mimis narrative. Plenty more to come for Mimi over the next few years. Still has a way to go to be highest ranked Welsh player . Plenty of time.

Interesting piece in the Times about our three girls. Interview with Katie O Brien. Sums it up thus;

Its been both fun and rewarding to see them develop in their different ways over the years. Mika is the most stubborn. Hannah is the most playful. Mimi is the most conscientious. I dont think any of them will mind me saying that!

To underline that work ethic, Xu went straight to the practice court at the Nottingham Open this week for an hour after being knocked out in the second round by the world No31 Magda Linette, of Poland.

The British teenage trio creating Wimbledon history

Mimi Xu - 17 - Swansea

Xu is the most experienced of the trio at senior level and already ranked 302nd in the world.

The Welsh teenager left the national academy last year and now works with Nigel Sears - who coached Emma Raducanu during her Wimbledon fourth-round run in 2021 - and national coach Katie O'Brien.

Being invited to November's BJK Cup as a practice partner for the British team also aided her development.

Xu earned her career-best win by shocking American top seed Alycia Parks - the world number 52 - on her way to the Birmingham quarter-finals earlier this month.

Described as "super intelligent" by British captain Anne Keothavong, Xu has taken A-Levels early in the past two summers, sitting biology exams between her matches in Birmingham and Nottingham this year.
