No runner's up speech from Harriet and Jo, or did I miss it?
First time I can remember anyone being interviewed on court after receiving anything other than one of the singles trophies. After the doubles, all four finalists used to go up to the royal box to collect their cups & wave them about for a minute or two & that was that.

live on court post interviews are def new this year for Wimbledon, during all rounds on the main courts. I'm not sure how long that will last with Naomi's (rightly in my opionion ) ongoing discussions with the media

In all other rounds only the winner was interviewed with the exception of Nick Kyrgios. Naomi doesn't have an issue with the interviews when she wins and actually the on court interviews are a really nice touch. It's not a bear pit, it's one person asking a few questions that are relevant and interesting. Nicks retirement interview was also worth listening to. The interviwee gets a lot of love from the crowd

She doesn't mind interviews when she wins? You need to rewatch everything that happened after her US Open victory. She was a shy introverted girl in a bear pit. We watched her being tortured on live TV to a booing crowd as she accepted the trophey. Who wouln't have PTSD after that
I'm not saying that media /interviews aren't important /necessary but these discussions are righly being negotiated now

You know damn well that Serena was to blame for that, not the interviewer, that whole situation was horrendous but not interviewing her on court wouldn't have improved it.

my point is, should she have been interviewed at all, despite whos fault it was. She didn't want to be interviewed because she was traumatised... and she won.

Yet when Coco was in tears on court and said multiple times she didn't want to do an interview who effectively forced her in front of the microphone? Oh yes, Naomi did.
You can't not do an on court interview after winning a Grand Slam, ludicrous suggestion regardless of the circumstances.
Anyway, distracting the thread. Well done to Neal. Sorry for Harriet though, you can tell how much she wanted it but the winners really deserved it.
