I have been impressed with his ability to handle an American summer. Outlasting several who should cope better than him

Yes, he's worked hard and done well. A couple of months training under an ATP coach like Neville Godwin (who is familiar with the physical and mental aspects of McHugh's type of game) would do McHugh the world of good. I think his boss (Murray) should send him and his coach out to South Africa for the off season if that were possible.
