Well he's playing really well considering.    Hope he's got  good support and nutritional advice to aid his recovery.

Long Covid doesn't seem to correlate to severity of the illness. I know a couple where one was hospitalised, 1 was barely I'll, 6 months later he us fine she is severely fatigued and working part time only

Wonder if this is just a bit of a come down after winning his first title.

Maybe, though pretty tight losses since to Ruusuvuori, Nishikori and now particularly Khachanov are not too worrying. I'm still not sure about him playing doubles though.

And Khachanov won Olympic silver so is on a high right now, so dont see any issues re Cam. Think Ruusuvori was a reaction, other two are just tight matches versus strong opposition.

Nadal has withdrawn with an ongoing foot issue. So no Djokovic, Nadal or Federer.

Down to 4 in the top 10 in the rankings competing, indeed 3 in the top 9. Though Thiem and Federer have been rather absent generally and are both outside the top 40 in this year's race.

Two lucky losers now got into the draw - neither of them Liam, sadly.

Feels a bit too much of a coincidence that they were easily the two best-known (most marketable?) names to lose in FQR...

I'm not sure exactly how it works but I believe it is meant to be a random draw of the top ranked FQR losers. (q1) Tiafoe and (q11) Lopez were the only seeded players to lose in FQR so they would be in the draw for any LL spots. I'm not sure how many there would be in the draw in total for 2 LL spots. Liam was 4th ranked of the 6 FQR losers.
