Weeks 35 & 36 - US Open, Flushing Meadows, New York City (hard)

Great that Dan's got into the last 16. Nothing to lose in his next match.

I've just watched Andy's interview, and just felt for him. I've never seen him that down and pissed off in a presser. I thought that he was very professional but honest in what he said. Was kinda annoyed that Titsy did it again next match and there are no repurcussions. I had no real sense of who he is, but now find myself disliking him. As Andy said, not good for him or the sport.

From the Titsy interview, he has a point - he didn't BREAK any rules. And as Andy said, the ATP need to move to make rules, but it's been talked about for years with no action.

I like the idea of the physio for the player left on court, just some incentive to stop all this unsporting behaviour less beneficial.

Not yet, but thats the hope. According to Twitter this morning though he's pulled out of his 1R doubles with Lloyd due to pain in his groin which doesn't sound optimistic.......

I see some Dutch guy ranked 117 or so has put out the 8th seed.

And the 16th seed has also lost.

15th seed retired too

This was following first round losses for the 9th seed, the 14th seed, the 27th, the 28th, the 20th and the 25th.

Seems quite a lot.....

Hurcacz (10th seed) now also gone

And 31st seed.

US still has 4 players left in, at last 32 stage.

Italy has 3, as do Spain, Germany and Russia (France only 1)

Germany is really hitting above its weight - two of their last 32 players are ranked ATP 141 and 144 !

A Slovakian guy, too, ranked 138.

Spain covering all bases by having a player just turned 18, and one aged 35.

Think Seppi at 37 is the oldest though.

Sock against Bublik was a good match, great to see Jack win over him, leaves 15 of the 32 seeds left at this stage.

Djoko comfortably through in round 2. Getting little attention so far.

, 15 mens seeds into R3 is the fewest (tied) since we have 32 seeds (2001)

At least the top 7 seeds remain and the top 6 of these have rankings ( and race positions ) miles clear of the rest of the field.

Beyond that 10 of the top 13 seeds remain and 15 of the top 24. But the 8 bottom seeds from 25 to 32 have been and gone ( 7 of them after R1! )

..And we are up and running in Dan's match. And he start's with breaking Alexei's serve to love. Can't ask for a better start than that.

Glad he's getting the value out of his Wimbledon whites

Apparently asked him to change out of lime green Because it would camouflage the balls. I didn't see the very start, what commentators said.

Ha! was thinking the same thing. smile Dan seems untroubled in his service games so far,  but Alexei seems to be getting into it now.  Not dropped a point in his last 2 service games...

 That's hilarious biggrin

Do you know if that was coz it'd mask the balls for the opponent? For the tv? Or for the artificial linesman thingy?

I rather like lime green.....

Just seen that the 32 year old German, ranked about atp 140, has made the last 16
