Jamie was defending 600 Cinci points from being RU last year with Neal.

Dan still recovering from Covid and lacking court time as he keeps losing ! Realise he said he wouldnt play week before slams but if he goes out opening round here, maybe a wild card next week wouldnt be a bad thing, if one was available

At least he put up a bit of a fight!

Properly done:

L56: (Q) Richard Gasquet (FRA) WR53 (CH = 7 in 2007) vs (WC) Andy Murray WR 105 (CH = 1 in November 2016)
h2h is 4-8 to Andy but the last time they met, also at this tournament in 2019, Gasquet won in straight sets. Ritchie also has the benefit of playing 2 rounds of qualifying and may be sufficiently warmed up.

Andy wins 6-4 6-4  (same scoreline as Gasquet when he beat Andy here in 2019)

Glad Dan made a fight as you say, feel he just needs time to get his fitness back. Hope hes willing to play Winston Salem next week, probably wont.

but well Done Andy , good solid win.

I actually appreciate this as sometimes the score or even the result can get lost in discussions and arguments on this board

Really encouraged by Andy's performance last night. I thought he was a few shades more aggressive than the rare outings we've witnessed over the past 24 months. He's still understandably lacking a little bit of touch and his shot selection was rusty but overall, he played well. Crucially, he moved well to the many drop shots Gasquet hit.

As always he looked lean and fit and up for it.
