To complete a sorry couple of days for Dan, he lost his doubles with Neal.

For the record:

L28:  Hubert Hurkacz & Jannik Sinner (POL/ITA) CR 212 (59+153) defeated Daniel Evans & Neal Skupski CR 72 (57+15) by 6-3 3-6 [10-3]

I see that Hurkacz & Sinner went on to beat Mektic & Pavic (1) in three in the last 16 overnight...

Theyve done well then; and good for Joe/Cam and partners...

Joe and Rajeev lose the opening set 6-4. Could all change as we know. But I didnt think they played that well against Tiafoe and Monroe last night so doesnt look like they are on top form

Thats a shame. Not many win back to backs though. New York next stop, where we have 9 players in the doubles draw.

Well in the absence of the old guard at least the best of who's turned up have made the SF.

(1) Medvedev vs (4) Rublev
(3) Zverev vs (2) Tsitsipas

If Medvedev wins the title he will close to within 500 points of Djokovic in the rankings. He does though have 1020 points more to defend at the US Open after Djokovic's varied relatively early exits in the last 2 years.

Rublev and Zverev come through the SFs in 3 sets so it's (4) Rublev vs (3) Zverev in the final.

And even without turning up for these last two masters events Djokovic is certainly going to remain WR 1 for quite a time yet beyond the US Open with Medvedev, the main short term contender, and Tsitsipas, the longer term contender ( on race points ), just picking up 360 points.
