OK, now Escoffier is going to be the absolute chalk and cheese opposite from Arthur.

Great job from Millen - really amazing week.

And with the lads having taken the doubles title too, who knows?

The final a round too far for the lad, but an excellent week for him.

Yes I think he had a break point in the first set which he couldnt convert and that was that really.

Good week for him though and hopefully he can push on from here.

It was a BIG ask.

Escoffier knows the value of every match, every penny.

Unlike the youngsters, he can't afford to be self-indulgent, he's there trying to scratch a living.

It was a shame Millen couldn't sneak the first somehow but it went as expected overall.

Great week, though

Shame that Millen hasnt been able to play again since a few weeks ago and this great result - anyone know, did he get injured, or hunker down, travel back to college etc? Shame he wasnt able to use the momentum a little...

I don't think he was entered for anything or he withdrew from tournaments prior to the final. I checked on the itf link around that time. Can't remember if his next tournament was 27/9 or 4/10

He's currently down to play qualies in the M15 in Forbach in eastern France, close to the border with Germany, next week.

According to the French press, Millen has a knee problem in his final at Bagneres - had to get the physio on, was having problems.

Don't know if that influenced his decisions in the next couple of weeks.

The French gave him a good write-up though - said it was unlikely he 'd have to come through qualis next year if he carried on like that.

And Millen gave a nice little speech at the end, saying that he was thrilled with how the week had gone, despite losing the final, the people had been great, and "la ville est très belle".
