QF: (4) Jonathan Binding & Gonçalo Falcão (POR) CR 1079 (657+422) vs Pedro Araujo & Fábio Coelho (POR/POR) CR 1782 (1074+718)
Had the Portuguese pair not won, Jonny & his Portuguese partner would have faced Brian Battistone & a fellow Yank who rejoices in the name of Tennyson Whiting!
Battistone is 42 now and plays with that double handled racket still so he can play and serve ambidextrously. Weirdest looking thing , like a double headed cobra!
Yes, especially after whatever injury it was that made him miss the whole grass court season - I felt sorry for him, we had Anton, and Jack PJ, and Arthur, and Felix, etc all doing well and Paul was sitting at home, nursing some injury. Must have been really frustrating for him.
By reaching the final Paul here, following up last week's title, Paul should move into the top 400 for the first time.
He will also move up to GB #10, passing Aidan, Anton and Jan. He will go to GB #9 ahead of James if he takes another title.
Great to see Paul refinding such form again.
Or maybe not ahead of Anton since he is in qualies for the ATP Biel Challenger. On 27/09 Paul will be on 110 points or 118 if he wins his final. Anton is currently on 104 points. James is on 112 points.

I'm a bit disappointed in Pauls tournament schedule, for some reason he is now entered into 2 x 15k tournaments (unlikely to play the one next week mind) A lack of ambition when he would be getting into the same Challenger that Anton is in.
