Yeah I enjoy watching him and Denis. Think its probably because I ended up watching the Canadian challengers they played in as 14 year olds. I think Ed Corrie was playing. couldnt believe the levels for 14 year olds.

shame for Cam today, didnt see it, but still Paris and Stockholm to go. Anyway want to be fresh for the big points in Paris!

Live race points after the top 6 who have already qualified for the ATP Fnals after Thursday's proceedings. With the points available from Paris and Stockholm to come, there remain in theory 12 runners for the 2 remaining ATP Finals places, down to Bautista A and Alcaraz hanging in by their finger tips :

7. Ruud : 3015 + 90 = 3105 - IN Vienna QF

8. Nadal : 2985 - N/A
9. Hurkacz : 2955 + 0 = 2955 - OUT of Vienna
10. Sinner : 2845 + (90 - 10) = 2925 - IN Vienna QF
11. Norrie : 2840 + (45 - 10) = 2875 - OUT of Vienna
12. Auger-A : 2330 + 90 = 2420 - IN Vienna QF
13. Karatsev : 2280 + 0 = 2280 - OUT of St P
14. Schwartzman : 1855 + 90 =1945 - IN Vienna QF
15. Carreno Busta : 1925 + 0 = 1925 - OUT of Vienna
16. Basilashvili : 1885 + (45 - 10) = 1920 - OUT of St P
17. Shapovalov : 1835 + 45 = 1880 - IN St P QF
18. Bautista Agut : 1630 + 45 = 1675 - IN St P QF

22. Alcaraz : 1274 + 90 = 1364 - IN Vienna QF

i was a later arrival of their fan club ().  Shap - the famous Davis Cup error, and Felix, when he  played Andy in  last years USO, his talent really stood out   So well done spotting them earlier, they are a bit special.  Felix was not at his best in the earlier part of this match today  but  woke up when Cam had 3 match points and I guess his confidence built from there and he played some  quite stunning tennis at times.   I still expected Cam to come back,  but he really dipped  as Felix improved.

Shapovalov has withdrawn from the Paris Masters which probably moves him out of contention.

Yep. Wiki showing Shapo as out of the running. Only shows top 20 here, so Alcaraz is just off the list

I see that Alcaraz went on to beat Berrettini in three sets this afternoon...

Yes and Alcaraz can still qualify for the ATP finals with 3 titles and reaching 3024 points but err slightly unlikely with the last qualifying spot held by Sinner on 3015 points live and still going in Vienna. But hey Sinner won't add an automatic 10 points in Paris for turning up in R1 since he already has a full set of counters so hope springs etetnal or until Sinner wins another match

In the big match with a very possible effect on the ATP Finals line-up Sinner beat Ruud in the Vienna QF while other than Alcaraz these with still outside Finals chances are now out of Vienna and St Petersburg, and while some of them still have theoretical Finals chances the leading 6 for the final 2 places are now :

7. Ruud : 3015 + 90 = 3105 - OUT of Vienna
8. Sinner : 2845 + (180 - 10) = 3015 - IN Vienna SF
( 9. Nadal : 2985 - N/A )
10. Hurkacz : 2955 + 0 = 2955 - OUT of Vienna
11. Norrie : 2840 + (45 - 10) = 2875 - OUT of Vienna
12. Auger-A : 2330 + 90 = 2420 - OUT of Vienna
13. Karatsev : 2280 + 0 = 2280 - OUT of St P

From a Cam perspective we need Sinner to just hold up and lose, if you dont mind. From a Tour Finals perspective , Sinner qualifying would be a dream as theyd get two Italians in the field. GB never achieved that whilst it was in London and it would certainly become a marketing persons dream.

I dont think anyone has made the Next Gen and main Tour Finals in the same year - and certainly not played both; be interesting to see if Sinner does if he qualifies - Milan for the Next Gen event would very much like him there as well!
