FQR:  Dayne Kelly (AUS) WR 456 (CH = 252 in October 2017) vs (q7) Aidan McHugh WR 390

Kelly, who's 31, put out the wily old Tunisian q2, Malek Jaziri (aged 37, WR 297/CH 42 in January 2019), by 1 & 2.

The obsession with ages proves pointless as 21 year old Aidan falls.

I have to say I dont think of ages now at all- 31 is normal, Dan is 31 isnt he? Maybe 37 is worthy of note, but certainly not 31!

It's not an obsession, rather an attempt to account for CHs that go back more than a couple of years, certainly as far as I'm concerned.

Id say the CH date does that as it is. I guess its a societal thing where we judge people and their abilities by age. Happens all the time in football with Ronaldo and Zlatan almost as if they should break at the next minute.

A CH from 10 years ago could be as a an 18 yo for a now 28 yo and could also be as a 28 yo for a now 38 yo. It might just be of  interest to some to have a clear pointer, given such possible large spreads regarding old CHs, as simply an additional.piece of info.

I have at times put things like "CH = 100 in 2012 (as a 21 yo)" for old CHs.

I think it's a bit rich to (effectively) call out SC for being age-ist about a 31-year old when all she's written is:

"Kelly, who's 31, put out the wily old Tunisian q2,....."

It's just a bit of information.

And the person who puts up the results obviously has a certain impact on what information gets included.

So, if you don't like the info or want different info, people should put it up themselves.

If someone were saying 'over thirties are over the hill' or whatever, that'd be a different conversation.

What a win! Watched some of that 2nd set with a Scottish mate who loves his tennis while on a train. Must be a career high win?
