What a waste of a wild card.  11 aces & NINE double faults (DK 5/3)!  At least he showed some fight after the first set.

Tough luck for Andy. He must be gutted after having a couple of match points when Dominik was serving to stay in the match at 4-5 and a few in the tiebreak too

Koepfer did well and I think the past week or three show me that whilst Andy competes with the top guys, hes not able to win, he really isnt deserving of a top 50 ranking and 60-100 is more realistic.

While Koepfer is clearly a regular competitive ATP tour player rather than essentially a challenger player ( being WR 58, not played a challenger in over 20 months and came into this week with a W 19 / L 23 record in ATP tour and Slam main draw matches this year ) that does still seem a rather disappointing outing from Andy after the promise of some other matches.

I thought he would push on after turning round the second set instead of it being a battle to the end and ultimately a loss.

Yes, it maybe is time to call it quits for this year. But he will no doubt be out battling away again in 2022.

At least Cam won in 2 very simple sets

Yes, Cam is going under the radar, and not getting the credit for the great year he's being having and being GB no 1. Well done Cam. He's WR12 on LR, a new CH, and no one seems to care.

Schwartzman and Carreno Busta are out of it already.

Its 2 from 5 that can make it. Realistically only 4, Sinner, Ruud, Hurkacz and Cam.

Depends who you go by - live tennis are excluding stockholm but that is wrong I believe ? Wiki says they are still in.

either way, its a long shot - I took my list from Jose Morgado last night who in turn may be wrong!

In doubles it is also down to 2 from 4 I believe, Jamie being high up in 8th place overall.

What is also true is PCB isnt in Stockholm currently although could get a wild card if he feels he needs to go there after he wins Paris !

Think thats a little harsh.  Looking at his recent record he has been beating a number of top 50 players I would say his level until yesterday was 30-40. Admittedly yesterday was nowhere near that

Metz beat Rank 10 lost to 42

Antwerp Beat 48 lost to 14

Indian wells Beat 51 38 and lost to 4

San diego Beat 26 66 lost to 13

Yes RJH . I'd agree with you.

I was probably getting a wee bit carried away a little while back when I was thinking maybe top 20 level. But looking at these earlier results for Andy and then losing an extremely tight game to the WR 58 on what looked a comparatively bad day for Andy, to my mind he's overall quite a lot better than 60 to 100. And even just going by the one match yesterday ( one or two matches is never a good idea ) and if Koepfer played to around his ranking, then that's logically about 60 level yesterday. I think overall your 30 to 40 ranking level for Andy's last few months still seems reasonable.

I would consider that Mr Murray's loss to the world number 58 was down to this post:

I apologise profusely for my stupidity. I really should know better.

I should also apologise for watching the game. Whenever I watch any UK player they seem to lose!!!

Schwartzman beats Millman in R1 so like Carreno Busta is for now just hanging in assuming Stockholm counts towards the ATP finals race total. Each though at the very least needs to win the Paris title and have a very good Stockholm week, and at the moment as said PCB isn't even entered for Stockholm so will need a WC if it becomes relevant for him.

All the others still fighting for an ATP finals place are entered for Stockholm which again suggests it may matter. Only Zverev of the 6 confirmed ATP Finals contestants is entered.
