What a performance by the French crowd - poor Alcaraz - he looked utterly shell-shocked. I've never heard them quite so loud and raucous. And the singing, the Marseillaise, etc. etc. It was very intimidating.
While Filip Polasek and Ivan Dodig have already secured their berths, meaning eight teams have now qualified, Polasek remains in contention with John Peers in Paris this week. If Polasek and Peers also finish in the Top 8 of the FedEx ATP Doubles Rankings, then Polasek will need to decide whether he partners Polasek or Peers at the Pala Alpitour in Turin later this month.
So basically if Polasek and Peers win this week in Paris, they are likely to qualify alongside Dodig and Polasek- Jamie et al will not be able to be usurped- and Polasek will get to choose his partner. Given Peers is his new partner id assume that is likely to be a pretty clear choice.

Does Polasek get to choose or does his highest pairing qualify? Otherwise it's unfair on Dodig? Was just looking at the ATP rules and doesn't look like this scenario is covered.
Can't say i've paid too much interest in the tour finals or the doubles entries in the past to know if this has happened before.

The paragraph is cut and paste from the atp site, it seems if Polasek gets into the top 8 in two pairings ( they have a typo in there) then he literally gets to choose between Dodig and Peers. To qualify though, with Peers, they must win Paris and Stockholm so it is a long shot . if they do qualify, having gone through the effort of getting there, I suspect he would choose Peers. He and Dodig split as a pair a few months back and Im not sure it was on good terms; Im sure though that if he doesnt qualify with Peers, theyd both put up with a week together for the money on offer- and knowing how these things work, theyd probably end up winning the event!

If Polasek and Peers win this week then Peers will be ranked higher than Dodig so it would be fair.

No worries - Im fact if P and P win Paris and Stockholm they will be ahead of D and P and so I think have a rightful path to be in the draw anyway. Theyve just made Paris semis this evening
