I sort of had it on whilst making dinner and from what I could tell, I thought Andy played really well. Maybe a match too far for Sinner but I thought it was a tactically astute match from Andy and once he had won the first set, he was able to keep the momentum and win well.
Funny things, draws. Out of interest I had a look at Mr Murray's last few tournaments, and in the last fourteen he has played, he has played world ranked:
3, 4, 8, 9, 10 (three times), 12, 13 (twice), 14, 28 & 29.
By way of contrast, our Mr Evans in his last fourteen tournaments has played the world ranked:
2, 9, 14, 15 & 28.
I didn't look beyond the top thirty, and my sample is definitely not statistically relevant, but it does seem that Mr Murray has been running into rather more highly-ranked opponents than the law of averages would dictate: particularly irritating when he is trying to accumulate matches!

Thanks for this analysis. Confirms my view that I have just expressed in the player of the month thread that Andy has been unlucky in his draws, with none of them really opening up for him restricting his ability to pile on big points at any events.
I actually kind of think this week is more important to Andy than Linz is to Emma. Or at least should be ( if the 'noise' could be ignored ).
Ah, slight test next up.

Yay, a test passed.
As CD said this is the kind of thing he's been really looking for. Indeed possibly needed before the season end as a kind of reaffirmation. Which is partly why I felt Andy's week was more important than Emma's.
I for one was very interested in how Andy got on. Just I'm very busy at the moment.

But it isn't really comparable as Andy has been unseeded due to his lower ranking so more likely to draw a seed in first match. In at least some of those tournaments Dan would have been seeded so avoiding fellow seed in first round.
Dan on first versus Tiafoe tomorrow, Andy 3rd against Paul. Shapovalov and FAA and BvZ also still in what is an attractive draw / field for last event of the year.
