Week 46 - Nitto ATP Finals - Turin, Italy (indoor hard)

6-2 5-2; on face value, this is a hammering. Leaves Jamie and Bruno almost out (assuming they lose). They will need Joe and Rajeev to win both their remaining matches in straight sets and also win their last match themselves in 2 sets and with big score lines - not going to happen

and of course they break at the death - maybe too little too late but ...

Stuart Fraser, The Times, reporting on twitter that Tsitsipas might be withdrawing and replaced with Cam for todays match against Ruud.

Red Group

Interesting - a win for Cam would push him top 10 possibly? Well worth taking the spot, and good money also.

Could he conceivably still qualify through the group if he plays two matches, a la SInner who is in with a chance in the other group?

Cam cant go top 10 whatever he does here, but the points, money and experience will help. On a fast court he will fancy playing Ruud. If he wins that he could make the semis but to do so would need to beat Djokovic! Djokovic plays Ruud in the match just started .

This event is so often blighted by pull outs though, isnt it.

Its also blighted by mathematics. Id much rather the top 8 played a straight 8 player knockout event. Maybe with a 5 set final.

Allez, Cam !

(NB I like the round robin - I don't mind the maths bit - never pay much attention - I just watxc everyone else, with interest, doing all the permutations .... and wait till someone actually gives out the answer)

Good luck to Cam tonight. It would be great if he could pull off a big win.

As Jon said, after winning their opening match, Mektic & Pavic lost their second match to Granollers & Zeballos.

If they won no further matches here and Joe & Rajeev were undefeated champions, Joe would go to doubles WR 1 for the first time.

Thats worthy of note ! Thanks Indy

But it's now out the window for this year.

Is it? Why is that - Joe seemed to be able to still get more points than Mektic and Pavic, or did something happen (just going by live tennis?)

Oops sorry. For some reason I was thinking Joe+ had lost this afternoon rather than Jamie+. It's still possible for now. I have deleted my previous post.
