Yay. Joe & Rajeev. Not yet guaranteed a SF place though since 3 pairs could finish on 2W 1L and they could be the ones to miss out.

As said, Jamie & Bruno are out, having lost both their matches so far by 2 sets to 0.

Phew , close but a win is a win! And they won 75-64 points as well so pretty much the better pair overall

Interesting - a win for Cam would push him top 10 possibly? Well worth taking the spot, and good money also.

Could he conceivably still qualify through the group if he plays two matches, a la SInner who is in with a chance in the other group?

Cam cant go top 10 whatever he does here, but the points, money and experience will help. On a fast court he will fancy playing Ruud. If he wins that he could make the semis but to do so would need to beat Djokovic! Djokovic plays Ruud in the match just started .

Needs to win a match though to get any ranking points. Still 1300 in theory available to Cam though!

I think though that he will not only need to beat both Ruud and Djokovic but also have Ruud beat Rublev to reach the SF.

I'm not sure how fair it is to give so many points for a tournament so restricted in its entrants, shades of footballs top clubs getting shed loads of European TV money and then surprise surprise those clubs stay at the top.

Fair but that is the point in a way - without it the top players would call a day and not play - indeed some dont most years and typically they have at least one drop out. The points are to get the players to the show case event. The quid pro quo was to ensure the points dropped or didnt count in the race of course but they do count in the rankings. without the points, not sure how much the money would entice these guys to play?

but it is over egged for sure and IMO probably should be at same level as a Masters 1000 as opposed to the possible 1500 for a winner.

At least the guys have to win a match at the tour finals to get any ranking points. Unlike the women with 125 points for each group match they lose.

I mentioned elsewhere this helping some finalists overtake and draw further clear in the rankings from poor Ons Jabeur who just missed out on a finals place.

If Cam wins this he gets his 86k appearance fee and adds 173k winners money - 260k. Plus hell get another 43k for playing Djoko regardless of score. A win today and he will leave the event with $300k.

Totally agree. Playing 3 losses and getting 375 points is outrageous !
