Nice one, thanks Lambda. On the face of it, it looks like it should be a great event.

Certainly well matched, going to fancy Scotland to win it, just!

Bad timing

The organisers clearly werent communicating well!

I see Jack is stepping in - wonder how Liam feels about that ?

For Liam, it might be something to do with dates of travel to Australia for qualifying (assuming he is going) as he would need to be there ahead of the others who will be in the main draw (working on the basis Andy will get a WC). Unlikely he will have just been left out as he is very much part of this group of players and seems to get on well with them all.

Wouldn't Jack potentially have the same issue with qualifying. He's right on the periphery, a couple more wins and he's off to Australia himself.

Yes indeed, you are right. Just looked at the rankings and yes a good week in Helsinki this week could see him right in the mix.

I guess in terms of tickets and marketing, Jack is a bigger name than Liam and so that might hold sway - not sure who the agency is that managing the event, but they probably had a say. rest are all pretty obvious names, of course

 Or not.

Jack bows out of Helsinki - not sure with an injury or not.

Is this just a mens thing? Is there going to be a ladies/mixed event does anyone know?

I think it is just mens this time - being honest a Scotland v England match probably wouldnt work for the womens event; plus, this one has the aim of large crowds and so is focusing on the bigger names (which in this context are the men) to get fans in, with Scotland v England as the hook

To say nothing of Draper being a more favoured name than Broady with the LTA.

Ha yes. Is this LTA backed though ? Of course, Liam got the Davis Cup place and arguably that is a bigger deal!

I guess Liam might have already booked flights to Australia. As i think players can arrive from the start of December. So maybe he's heading out pre Christmas and training there.

Aidan and Paul have been selected as the final members of the squads.

Thats good news - but presumably they are reserves effectively or do they get to play each other?
