The danger is she will be forgotten by the rest of the world
Hopefully not, but I wonder whether the sports world are oging to make a point as the WTA have done.
It was a really interesting article, very scary and Orwellian. It's kind of like the middle ages, something out of a movie. It just doesn't seem real that this could happen in this day and age, but I guess I'm being naive.
Ive been wondering but not seen anything about it yet: if the atp have tournaments in China still, what would happen if atp players came out to marches with T-shirts, banners etc supporting her cause/advertising the issue/protesting?
Tennis Australia have brought this back into the headlines by calling the police to get some activists wearing Where is Peng Shuai t- shirts to remove them. They say that Peng's safety is their primary concern but that the action was taken because conditions of entry do not allow any commercial or political clothing. Navratilova has accused TA of capitulating to China calling it cowardly and pathetic. Mahut tweeted "What's going on!? What lack of courage! What if you did not have Chinese sponsors?"
Another person, on learning this, has set up a fundraising campaign to print 1,000 t-shirts with the question to hand out for free at the women's final. They've so far raised over 13,000AUD of their 15,000 target.

given it is over a month since any contact with Peng, it does feel like she may well be held in one of these RSDL Black Jails - I am quite shocked at how quiet things have gone; the WTA were very, very active and made strong words, but the next step is to threaten to actually go through with the Chinese tournament ban for the whole season, surely, and they seem to have baulked at that now; has the WTA CEO (Simon?) now retired, perhaps they have a slight power vacuum at the moment, or perhaps they are conferring with lawyers as that next step could have big financial implications if they do actually follow through and pull out of China completely...
