Excellent for Liam - what does that mean for him world ranking wise ??

From my calculations it might move him to 121 which is his career high at present. However it looks like he has a lot of points due off in February, 129 in total. So another win here wouldn't go a amiss!

I do find the covid adjustments are a bit unfair right now if points are being dropped from Feb last year when others seem to still have points among their counting events from 2 years ago.  Or am I wrong on that assumption ?

I agree it does seem madness. However it is the same for everyone. You'd have thought that they could have just said at the end of 2021. Any points from before the 2021 season are dropped. Everyone had the chance to play last year.
Onto Liams points dropping the points he is carry from pervious years is part of the 129 dropping.

Thanks for that. I agree that it would have made sense to just start this years rankings with the just the results from 2021. Much as I am a fan of Kyle, it seems ludicrous that he is still ranked at 121 when he hasn't played for 15 months.

Not British I know but what a heart breaker for Matthew Ebden - beaten by Gombos 10-8 in the final set TB.

But Trungelliti made it through. I always keep an eye out for him

That was brilliant from Liam. As I said on another thread, it is a trait of our players that they will fight to the end. A la Andy and Evo also.

Hope he plays well in the MD now.

How you calculate rankings at the moment is total confusion.

I think I'll wait until the live ranking sites roll over to next week and add qualifying points and take off any historical points(whatever they are..)

Never a truer word was spoken. Can't wait until the older tournaments have worked their way out of the system and we are back to normal.

Liam's AO qualifying points won't add until after the AO. 25 + 10 = 35 points so far.

At least since last August the ATP have been taking off old points in full ( for both ATP and ITF events ) on their anniversaries and their weekly ranking points have been consistent and predictable. So this coming August we should be back to just the last 12 months

It's the WTA rankings that really annoy me, in what they have been doing to date and their unclear future plans.

Only started watching as of the end of the second but just SUCH a good fight back.

NB Don't know if steven could maybe send a photo, probably a bit above and beyond, he's already being a star, but I do SO hope that SC gets to see Liam's outfit - she'll LOATHE it Might make her feel better just to get all peppered up about it.

You could try this link https://www.instagram.com/p/CYtT1bpBZKV/
